I just wanted to take a moment to say THANKS!! I really don’t know what I would do without you. I did not learn until my early 30’s just important it is to live a healthy lifestyle. My daughter is 8 yrs old and I am 34. I want her to understand the importance of having a healthy weight and lifestyle. It bothers me to see her overweight because I feel like it is my and my husband’s fault for not supplying better food choices early on. I knew I had to do something. I have tried to incorporate better meals and exercise plans within my weekly family schedule, but it is sometimes hard when I am so busy with work. It doesn’t help matter much when I have an 11 growing son who eats everything he sees and has great metabolism and not an ounce of fat on him. Along with a husband who is a firefighter who eats whatever and whenever he wants. I felt like I was stuck, because I want my daughter and myself to do better, but the boys don’t make it easy for us. So I ask GOD to show me what to do and I will do it. I felt like he guided me to you. I feel so much better knowing that if I am just too tired to motivate her to do better that you will be there to help us both. She is so excited about seeing you and coming to your class. I can not explain how great it feels to see her want to ride her bike more and ask me if we can walk before school if we have time. It is great to see that she recognizes that she should eat more fruits and vegetables. This past Saturday I told her that we would ride our bikes to McDonald’s to have breakfast. I thought I would trick her into doing a good bit of bike riding and she would not realize that she was exercising. She surprised me by jumping right out of bed and not hesitating. She said ok great and then I can tell Mrs. Simmons that I rode all the way there and back for exercise!!! So again I say THANK YOU!!! For everything you have done for and for me as well. She is very wise for her age now, but I think that as she gets older she will definitely understand the impact that you are making on her life…
Thanks for all that you do,
Mrs. Michelle C.
For the last seven months my daughters have been working with Clintonia Simmons and the Kids get fit program. This program has really made a difference in the way we all approach eating and making better choices when it comes to food. It made me realize that this should be a way of life for everyone, healthy eating and exercise equal success when it come to your body and as well as the way you feel about yourself. I can see this in my daughter Michelle she has made great progress by losing five inches off her waist and 5 lbs. She feels good about the way she looks and would like to continue to lose more weight.
As for as my older daughter Maiah she has lost between 10 and 12 lbs she now feels so much better about herself and loves to take pictures. I know it is not about how we look on the outside but when you are following the Kids or Teens Get fit program you feel good, are healthier and the added benefit of looking better. This program has really been a blessing to my two daughters. I just which more children and teens would get involved.

Thanks for what you do. I grew up in the first wave of “latch key kids” and as a sixth grader weighed over 220 lbs. I wish we would have had a program like yours back then. I remember not wanting to do any exercise–just Atari, homework, and Pizza Delivery (in those days I could eat an entire large by myself and not even be too stuffed). Only as an adult have I really seen the need. For the past five or so years, running/walking has become a literal lifeline. Again, thanks for all you do and for all your group does. Tell the kids that it is much easier as a child to develop good habits of diet and exercise than as an adult!
Personally, I think it has been a great outlet for our children at Northaven [Elementary]. Our students have very little opportunity for any extra curricular activities outside of the in-school day. Our students are always excited and looking forward to the days that the Healthy Kids & Teens comes to Northaven. They seem to be learning and having fun at the same time.
Dear Mrs. Simmons,
I’m Glad to be in your class because you teach me a lot of stuff. You teach me to eat healthy, and exercise. I have been jogging for the last two weeks, and I’m eating healthy. I’m trying to drink my waters. I rode my bike this afternoon. I’m going to try to walk on the treadmill tonight. I’m going to drink more water. I was wondering, do we only have to walk and not ride our bikes? Because I need to know. That’s all I need to know. Thank you so much for helping me learn to lose weight and being so nice.
